Regular price $ 5.00
A Structured Period to Start, Execute and Finish a Piece of Creative Work
Calling all creatives! Join us for a night of structured creativity and inspiration. A Creative Lock-In is a time during which we lead participants through the life cycle of creating a piece of creative work. We can all use a bit of method and intentional process in our creative work.
Come to the Lock-In with yourself and leave with a piece of creative work. We'll guide you through the process of conceptualizing, starting, executing, making mistakes, going the wrong direction, evaluating, adjusting and finalizing.
Our goal is to give you a jump-start to complete your project, or a component of your overall vision.
After the Lock-in there will be an Open Creation session to get your creativity flowing. Come to one or both parts of the evening!
When: Saturday, September 22nd, 5pm-Midnight
Arrive at 5PM sharp for the Creative Lock-In and stay through the Open Creation Session or come at 8PM for the Open Creation Session only.

How does the Creative Lock-In work? What should I expect?
The Creative Lock-In is a structured and guided period during which we will walk you through all stages of the life cycle of a creative piece of work. This includes brainstorming (conceptualizing), creating (starting and executing, making mistakes, going the wrong direction), editing (critical feedback, evaluating, adjusting), and completing (finalizing your creating).
You can come with an idea in mind, a project you've been meaning to start, or one you've already started. This is a great opportunity for refining and completing a work-in-progress!
What will the Open Creation Session consist of?
From 8pm - midnight, come play, create, and get your creativity flowing. There will be inspiration stations, live costumed models for figure drawing, an opportunity to meet other local creatives, a device Lab with an iPad and Apple pencil, group Art Project, live music, costume box, business card swap table, and a pop-up shop with AfroIndo featuring hand-made upcycled and re-purposed clothing with African and Indian prints.
What medium of art?
All are welcome - visual artists, writers, jewelers, painters, graphic designers, you name it - there will be space and inspiration aplenty.
What should I bring?
Regarding materials, bring your own supplies for your work. We will have some materials but please bring yours. Drawing/writing/painting/etc supplies (please no oil paints or solvents), business cards to share if you want. Your materials for writing, sketching, painting, etc
Will there be food? Are drinks allowed?
If you're attending the Creative Lock-In, please bring a potluck dish to share. You may bring alcohol or any other food to the Open Creation Session. There is a Mediterranean restaurant and liquor store next door to the Gateway Media Arts Lab.
